About
Scintillate, Expand represents a recent stream of personal creativity – touching on feelings of the sublime, manifested through hazy, dream-like atmospheres.
There are a few spectacular electronic dub artists I have engaged with in the last few years who deeply inspired me in this work – most notably, Purl and Rhythm & Sound. These two acts have both encapsulated several musical qualities I deeply resonated with, from Intensely beautiful, delicate/intricate ambiences, to spacious, subdued treatments of rhythm and texture.
This release is the first step towards a greater collection of music I hope to complete in the near future. In this past year, I have aimed and half-succeeded in completing things – both approaching or reaching closure on old overhanging tracks from past years, and starting new ideas in the past few months. While things haven’t moved as quickly as I would have hoped at the start of this year, I’m really excited to be able to finally start releasing from this long stream of creative expression.
There is an interesting point of consistency across these three tracks – each one only took 3-4 days to make. In this sense, these tracks were unfiltered raw outpourings of several sounds, feelings, aesthetics, and ideas I love, that represent a few expressions I hope to share through my music: tranquility, expansiveness, environments, technology, sci-fi futurism, ambience, dynamics (lightness versus intensity), surrealism, progression, immersion, existential beauty, groove, fullness.
