Finding the Quantum State (2026)

About
Finding the Quantum State is a cathartic and futuristic musical world. 15 tracks of hi-tech EDM grooves and surreal ambiences coalesce and dissipate in a continuous flow, taking you on a sci-fi inspired journey marked by narrative contrasts of light and dark, stillness and motion, space and density, softness and grit, artificial structures and natural scenery – inspired by real life, altered by imagination.
This is a project that I have been nurturing over the past four years. It began following in the footsteps of my first album, Journey, and in many ways I like to think of this album as a conceptual and spiritual successor, using artworks and landscape references to help inspire each musical idea. But this album has also grown and latched on to new developments in my creative craft and personal life, documenting changes in how I approach my art.
Many of the fluid, energetic, bubbly and grainy sound designs and ambiences were made from new synthesiser tools developed in my postgraduate studies. Some atmospheres were born out of geo-documentation field recordings of my recent travels across New Zealand and Australia. Some of the music served as an intensely sincere outlet or escape for my emotions through both highlights (new experiences, new connections, new achievements) and difficult moments (bereavements, losses, interrogations of my own flaws) across these years. Additionally, all three feature singles incorporated extensive multi-media outputs, released as my first ever 3D-animated music videos accompanied with responding poetry.
In this way, Finding the Quantum State has been a significant creative obsession for me. At over 90 minutes long, it is also by far my longest musical project to date. It serves as both a piece of personal documentation and an observation on the ebbs and flows of life, reimagined through a fantastical, hi-tech soundscape.
