Electron Metropolis (2026)

Continuing in the sci-fi spirit of Cloud Station and Through Portals, Electron Metropolis thrusts into upbeat cyberpunk urbanity, imagining the sights and sounds of a cityscape in relentless activity and glow. This track is a propulsive patchwork of high-tech bass grooves, gritty FM synthesis, and some of my favourite EDM sound design work to date.

This is my third music visualiser animated in Blender. Both the music and visuals were challenging to put together (the music itself being in the works for around two years!), but I'm thrilled with how they've both turned out.

Electron Metropolis

A pulsing blue and red light on the kerb;

six lanes of magnetic cars in a flocking swerve.

A lattice of drones overhead, electric tweets sounding;

four-point-eight-five million commuters and counting.

A mother, toddler, and humanoid bot sitting riverside –

legs dangling free over the berm watching their reflections in delight.

A sweet steam wafting from the café window, into the plaza;

customers waiting in line for their favourite synthetic java.

A fusion-powered crane wrenching containers across the dock;

seven-hundred automatons constructing the newest tower block.

A relentless current of infrastructure and self-driving machinery;

holographic pigeons cooing on perches atop the scenery.

A cloud straddling the upper office façades;

windows splitting the dusky horizon along neon promenades.

A sudden toggle and switch; a fractal of streetlights – 

the hazy sky turning purple, as evening becomes night.

A city energised by a constant electron glow;

late-hour stadium entertainment and fireworks on show.

A mass celebration gathering by the coast;

people watching the fireworks, cheering the place they love most.
