Crimson Desert (2021)

'Crimson Desert' is the second feature single from my debut album, Journey. Much like 'Underworld', this track has come out of a vivid musical expression of imagery. Inspired by the surrealist/fantasy aesthetics of a desert world (in fact, loosely based off the aesthetics of Frank Herbert's Dune), Crimson Desert brings the downtempo electronica/EDM style to a spacious, desolate soundscape of windy, gritty textures, soft, scintillating, yet tense and simmering synths, and organically evolving percussion grooves. Caught between the scattered spectrum of a red sunset and the endless void of shade, the piece evokes a journey through the endless sea of red sand.
