Time Timbre Frequency (2020)

Interactive sound art

'Time-Timbre-Frequency' was my major project in the Max/MSP audio-visual programming course (CMPO285) I took during my second year of study at the New Zealand School of Music. This project was designed to be interacted with as an art-installation, encouraging the user to explore three properties of musical sound (time, timbre, and frequency/pitch) in an intuitive way through basic mouse and keyboard interaction.

In some respects this work became the spiritual predecessor of my p5.js program 'Soundscaper'. It was my first attempt at creating an interactive interface that gave the user full, playful control to generate many different, engaging musical permutations without actually needing any prior musical skill or knowledge.
